What are your thoughts on Octane? I was thinking of picking it up. Is it noticeably faster that cpu rendering?

It's good - but like most things to really get the most out of it you need to learn and spend a lot of time on it and just generally trying stuff out.

The speed is a tricky one to answer. It really depends on your hardware... I have dual xeons, and prior to upgrading my graphics card, CPU stuff was quicker obviously. However now with a GTX Titan and the 6gb RAM Octane is much better.. and something that I can actually work with (especially with the bigger scenes I do).

So yea, if you have a decent rig, then I say give it a shot.  Hope that helps :)

Right now I have an amd phenom II 6x 3.2ghz with 16gb ram and a geforce gtx 780ti with 3gb vram, I'm wondering if it's worth it, or is octane meant for dual cards? Right now the only thing really using my graphics card is Skyrim.

Octane will use as many cards as it can, however, currently it only 'sees' the total RAM which is that of each individual card.  So as it stands, even with another 780ti, Octane will still only be able to use 3gb (not the 6 in total)

I'm sure this will change as it develops and matures though.

RAM aside, the 780ti will have plenty of poke for it.
